  • Q: What is MTM® No•Trace System?

    A:

MTM® stands for Minor Tooth Movement. MTM® No•Trace System is a bracketed orthodontic treatment used to correct minor misalignment in your teeth. However, unlike traditional orthodontic treatment, MTM® No•Trace System uses a set of extremely small, low-profile brackets that are placed on the back side of your teeth, making them completely undetectable to anyone but you. MTM® No•Trace System is prescribed for teeth requiring a treatment of 6 millimeters of movement or less. Visit the Am I a Good Fit? page to see examples of treatable cases.

  • Q: Just how important are minor movements?

    A:

Most people think of orthodontics as a cosmetic procedure. But an improved smile is really just a popular side-effect. Properly aligned teeth contribute to healthy teeth and gums and can help prevent more serious health problems. Improperly aligned teeth can make cleaning and brushing more difficult and lead to tooth decay, gum disease and possibly tooth loss. Misaligned teeth can also lead to stress on the jaw muscles and excessive wear of the enamel, negatively affecting the long-term health of the teeth and supporting bone structure.

  • Q: Is MTM® No•Trace System comfortable?

    A:

MTM® No•Trace System is an ultra-thin, behind-the-tooth orthodontic system that corrects alignment issues behind the scenes. When beginning the treatment, the braces may feel a little foreign in your mouth, however, most people stop noticing it is there after a day or two. In a recent focus group study, most respondents actually noted that MTM® No•Trace was more comfortable than traditional orthodontic treatment.

  • Q: Will MTM® No•Trace braces interfere with talking or eating?

    A:

While any orthodontic treatment will require an adjustment period, MTM® No•Trace braces should not directly affect talking or eating. MTM® No•Trace System is set in place for the duration of the treatment, therefore it is not necessary to remove anything before eating. MTM® No•Trace braces are designed to fit seamlessly into your life and remain both out-of-sight, and out-of-mind.

  • Q: How does the price of MTM® No•Trace System compare to other treatment options?

    A:

Each case is different, so individual case costs will vary. Typically MTM® No•Trace System costs considerably less than other treatment options. In fact, many insurance plans should cover a substantial portion of the cost.

  • Q: How long does MTM® No•Trace System take to work?

    A:

Because MTM® No•Trace treats System only cases requiring movement of 6 millimeters or less, the typical treatment time is as little as 12 to 24 weeks.

  • Q: How long has MTM® No•Trace System been around?

    A:

Lingual, or reverse mounted, braces have been around since the 1980’s. Unfortunately many orthodontists were resistant to the challenge mounting braces on the back side of the patient’s teeth posed. MTM® No•Trace System removes this obstacle with a revolutionary new adaptation of lingual orthodontics utilizing proprietary software for easy treatment and a patient friendly design for the utmost in comfort.

  • Q: Can I see results of other patients treated with MTM® No•Trace System?

    A:

Sure, simply visit our Am I a Good Fit page to see actual before and after images of people who have used MTM® No•Trace System to beautify their smile.

  • Q: For what age group is MTM® No•Trace System recommended?

    A:

  • Q: What if I need more than 6mm of correction?

    A:

While MTM® No•Trace System can correct a great many problems, cases can sometimes require more advanced treatment. If your case requires more than 6mm of movement, you might need a more comprehensive treatment. Consult with your dentist or orthodontist directly to help you reach your orthodontic goals.

  • Q: What if I only need 3mm of alignment or less?

    A:

If your alignment needs are less than 3mm of required movement, you might be a candidate for our companion treatment, MTM® Clear•Aligner. Click here for more information on MTM® Clear•Aligner treatment.
